Dear Marva,
When we decided to plan our wedding in the
Caribbean, we quickly determined that a big "wedding factory" resort wasn't the
right fit. We sought out Pelican Bay based on their reputation as an intimate
wedding destination capable of personalizing our experience - ensuring that our
75-guest wedding was both uniquely tailored to our vision and flawlessly
executed.
At
Pelican Bay, we were the only wedding booked over New Year's Weekend and their
outstanding staff treated our friends and family as if their happiness was
their top priority. Many of our guests opted for Pelican Bay's elegant State
Rooms. These unique suites set Pelican Bay apart from the other resorts we
considered and the complementary pastries and plush four-poster beds left our
guests feeling pampered-- a wonderful perk and a reflection of a hotel that
offers its guests an extraordinary value.
We
opened our weekend with a pool-side wedding rehearsal and a reception for all
of our guests. Sabor's excellent barbecue and cocktails were a perfect tropical
welcome and Pelican Bay's main pool was a wonderful setting for a fun, casual
evening.
Our
sunset "beach bliss" wedding ceremony was beautiful and our reception at the
Canal House was both elegant and relaxed-- a perfect blend of island atmosphere
and the sort of attention-to-detail one would expect from a high-end resort.
From the beautiful tropical flowers and the 'surprise' personalized dance floor
tiles to the phenomenal Bahamian hors d'evours and buffet produced by Sabor's
enormously talented kitchen, our wedding reception exceeded our expectations on
every count.
Lucaya's New Year's Eve fireworks display accompanied by
cocktails and a champagne toast at Sabor's open-air bar provided the perfect
end to a magical night.
No
review of Pelican Bay would be complete without mention of Marva Munroe,
Pelican Bay's extraordinarily talented in-house wedding planner. Marva brought
her extensive hospitality experience to bear in working with us to design and
execute our perfect our wedding weekend. When we asked for a selection of
tropical flowers to complement our color scheme, Marva took charge and produced
a collection that had our guests posing for pictures with our centerpieces.
When our shipment of gift bags was accidentally routed to Nassau, Marva hopped
on a plane and retrieved them, no questions asked.
When a blizzard forced us to arrive three days later than we
had planned and caused more than 10% of our guests to cancel, she was an
invaluable resource - providing expert guidance and a steady hand as we tried
to manage our own travel and our last-minute wedding logistics. Marva made our
wedding a success.

since I left!

special day so incredible. It was the most perfect, beautifully executed event
ever!! It was the wedding of my dreams and I can't thank you enough for making
sure my vision was brought to reality. It was more breathe taking then I ever
imagined. Every detail was minded to and you truly are a class act. Your
dedication to us over the past two years planning this event is so greatly

Marva,
Its been about 2 weeks since the wedding and we have just settled
back into "normal" life again. I want to express our sentiments and recap our
experience. Where do I start? Let me start at the end.
The
wedding was Excellent, the accommodations were Excellent, the rehearsal BBQ
dinner was Excellent, the food was Excellent, the service was Excellent, the
entire week was Excellent. That isn't just our sentiment, that is what ALL 150
GUESTS had to say - and are still saying 2 weeks later. Everyone is talking
about the "best wedding ever". This is NOT just a 'Yeah, that was the best
wedding blah, blah, blah' I truly mean it. I cannot tell you how many people
have told us, "I have been to '10s of weddings' or 'dozens of weddings' or 'so
many weddings' and this was by far the best wedding and most fun we have ever
had…" My only problem is that my remaining daughter is worried that she'll
have to have her wedding on the moon to top this one! (Don't worry, when her
time comes we will talk again.)
Marva, you and the entire staff at Pelican Bay Exceeded our
expectations. Your calm, soothing, assured and powerful demeanor was just what
we needed to get us, Lauren and I, through planning and executing a destination
wedding. As you know by now we are 'control freaks' and you were the perfect
medicine for us. No matter what type of challenge we presented, you and the
Pelican Bay staff had the perfect solution. No one was ever flustered and
always exhibited exceptional professionalism and a desire to please all of us
and our guests - 24/7. The level of hospitality touched everyone.
Not
only that, but everyone you connected us with - be it transportation,
excursions, Our Lucaya, local distributors, air freight - everything exceeded
our expectations. The local Bahamian people were always more than gracious and
kind. Everyone always felt safe and secure and comfortable.
We
arrived on a Monday and left Tuesday afternoon a week later. During that time
our guests starting arriving each day totaling 150 for Friday, Saturday and
Sunday morning. You guided us towards successful activities every day. Aside
from the actual rehearsal dinner on Friday night, the wedding on Saturday, and
our Sunday Brunch - other highlights definitely included the local fish fry on
Wednesday night and Junkanoo, including the bonfire, on Thursday night. Every
day was the perfect prelude to the next.

I can't help but to reiterate that every one of our guests was ecstatic and
can't stop talking about it. I would say you out did yourself, but something
tells me that the success of this event wasn't unique - I believe you, and
Pelican Bay, pull this off routinely. Everything went so smoothly. The one
thing I still can't figure out is how you managed to also control the weather?
It, too, was absolutely perfect!
Our
sincerest thanks - and we miss you, the staff and Pelican Bay very much. We
hope to return again soon.

I just wanted to thank you again for helping us
with such an amazing wedding. We couldn't have dreamed of a more perfect day

more happy with how everything turned out. From the food to the decorations to
the music, everything was just perfect. The flowers were gorgeous, the DJ was
unbelievable, the musicians were amazing, and all of the servers and employees
who worked the reception were fabulous.
